Here are photos from the Opening Reception of ‘Shelf Life‘ hosted and curated by Masthead Print Studios.

‘Shelf Life‘ is a collaborative show between 19 home brewers and 19 artists who will design labels for these libations. The styles of beer range from an Expresso Stout to a Pineapple IPA.

Artists include: Ben Woodward, Ed Kelley, JP Flexner, Melissa McFeeters, Lucy Price, Shawn Hileman, Robb Leef, Tim Gough, Max Gordon, Aaron Eiland, Erik Hamline, Lydia Nichols, Steven Speir, Kenny Kim, Ryan Johnson, Dan Gneiding, Sam Heimer, Keith Greiman, Danni Sinisi, Jesse Southerland and Dan Knapp.

The Original Road Dog Cider

S.Speir- The Original Road Dog Cider

This is the label that Steven Speir designed for The Original Road Dog Cider, which is a part of the Philly-local, home brew show, ‘Shelf Life’, hosted by Masthead Print Studios.

Steven had been paired with home brewer, Alex Ciambriello, who created this apple cider. You can read the cider’s description below:

When the moon is high and full, that’s when the Road Dogs come out.
You know ‘em when you see ‘em. They got the top down with the radio
up, and they howl louder than an ambulance rear-ending a church bus.
Road Dogs have but one motto, “It’s my way, and the gettin’ high way!”
Burnin’ rubbers and refusing to use them. The Road Dog’s two favorite
movies are: “Roadhouse” and “The last twenty minutes of Roadhouse.”
When the going gets tough and the road gets rough, you have to ask
yourself, “What Would Road Dog Do?”

Now crack open a bottle of this sweet, crisp, easy drinking cider and start howlin’
at the moon. Unfiltered and straight from hell! This cider is the reason you wake

up at a Tijuana bus station with sweat dripping from your pores, unexplained

injuries, and a tattoo that reads ‘vive el perro por carretera.’ Off in the distance,

you hear a deep howl in the wind, and you know you’re not alone. So drink up,

hit the road, and take this dog on a long ride!

Shelf Life: A Homebrewer and Artist Collaboration Show

Pennsylvania has born a plethora of homebrewers because of the strict state laws in PA. In response to that, Masthead Print Studio announced that they will be showcasing a collaborative show between 20 homebrewers and artists, designers, illustrators and painters to design labels for these libations. The styles of beer will range from an Expresso Stout to a Pineapple IPA. Sponsored by EverybodyDrink.com by Impart Creative and the Philly Brewing Club.

Opening Reception Tonight!

The best stories are the ones told without any effort. The mundane ramblings from a storefront or alleyway, the overheard conversations on a bus, cab, or check out line all inform our lives in one way or another. These stories and characters stick with us and keep our lives moving. In a city with thousands of people, each with their own stories, the difficulty lies not in finding inspiration, but rather choosing what speaks to us. For this exhibition of recent paintings and illustrations by Steven Speir and Bradford Haubrich, the artists have done all the work for you in choosing to re-create their favorite stories and people inspired by their daily life.
